Three relatives of Pope Francis were killed early Tuesday when a car driven by the pontiff's nephew collided with a truck carrying corn near Cordoba, Argentina.
The car driven by Horacio Bergoglio Emanuel, 38, rammed the back of the truck moving in the same direction on a mountain road near the town of James Craik shortly after midnight.
Killed were Emanuel's wife, Valeria Carmona, 38; and their two children, 8 months and 2 years. Emanuel was hospitalized in serious condition.
Emanuel is the son of the pope's late brother, Alberto Bergoglio. Pope Francis, 77, was born in Argentina.
