Health Minister Awa Marie Coll Seck told reporters on Friday that a young man from Guinea was confirmed to have contracted the virus.

490 Million Dollars Needed To Contain Ebola- WHO

The World Health Organisation (WHO) announced a $490 million strategic plan to contain the epidemic over the next nine months, saying it was based on a projection that the virus could spread to 10 further countries beyond the four now affected – Guinea, Liberia, Sierra Leone and Nigeria.
With the IMF warning of economic damage from the outbreak, Nigeria reported that a doctor indirectly linked to the Liberian-American, late Patrick Sawyer who brought the disease to the country had died of Ebola in Port Harcourt, Africa’s largest energy hub.

Increase your vitamin C intake

One of the best ways to look younger is to increase your vitamin C intake. Vitamin C is good for the skin all over the body so it’s important to add foods rich in Vitamin C to your eating plan. Boost your protein intake

Protein plays a significant role in almost each aspect of the skin, including collagen production, appearance, cell turnover as well as structure. This makes it a vital nutrient in your eating plan. Opt for lean protein like fish, sirloin steak, pork loin chops and chicken breast. Low-fat dairy foods, eggs, nuts and beans are also wonderful sources of protein.

Ebola: Sierra Leone Voted To Pass A New Amendment Imposing Jail Time For Anyone Caught Hiding An Ebola Patient.

Ebola continues to spread in West Africa as Sierra Leone voted to pass a new amendment imposing jail time for anyone caught hiding an Ebola patient.
With 142 new cases recorded, the total number is now 2,615 with 1,427 deaths, the World Health Organization said Friday. The group added that the magnitude of the Ebola outbreak has been "underestimated."
"Many families hide infected loved ones in their homes," the organization wrote in an assessment. "Others deny that a patient has Ebola and believe that care in an isolation ward — viewed as an incubator of the disease — will lead to infection and certain death. Most fear the stigma and social rejection that come to patients and families when a diagnosis of Ebola is confirmed."

Nick Cannon: I'm The One Who Left The Relationship Not Mariah

Nick Cannon is the one who decided to bail on his marriage -- not Mariah -- sources connected with the couple tell TMZ.
Nick has made it clear to all involved ... he's deeply concerned about Mariah's emotional state and is ending the marriage for the well being of their kids. He believes the environment around Mariah is toxic and fears for his kids.
We're told Nick believes his kids have already shown signs of emotional upset living with Mariah.
Our sources say Nick's MO is simple ... he wants to create an environment separate from Mariah that gives the kids a safe haven from the "chaos" at her home.
Nick is also telling his people he's deeply concerned about Mariah's mental health and believes her people don't care about anything but her ability to make money and pay their salaries.
And finally we're told Nick is taking a "passive" role in the divorce ... telling his lawyers to take the path of least resistance to end things as peacefully as possible.

Mimiko set to dump Labour Party for PDP

The Ondo State Governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, may dump his party, Labour Party for the Peoples Democratic Party.
A source in the Presidency on Friday told our correspondent that negotiation was in advanced stage with the governor to ensure a seamless defection to the ruling party before the 2015 elections.
Mimiko, who is the only governor elected on the platform of the Labour Party, is serving his second term in office.
Mimiko is a known political ally of the PDP and a staunch supporter of President Goodluck Jonathan. He was a member of the PDP before he defected to the LP in 2006 to contest for the governorship election in Ondo State.
His planned defection was said to be part of the efforts by the ruling party to capture Ondo State in 2015.
An Ondo State Government House source, who asked not to be named, confirmed that though Mimiko remained a member of the LP, there had been intense pressure from the ruling party to welcome him to its fold.
According to him, the PDP has doubled its efforts to ensure that the governor defects to the ruling party. He said, “We can’t deny intense pressure on Governor Mimiko to join the PDP but he must consult before making such a decision. But for now, no decision has been taken.
“The governor is still in the LP. However, considering his support for Jonathan, some people are of the opinion that voters may not be able to distinguish between PDP and LP in the 2015 elections.”
The PDP Chairman in Osun State, Gani Olaoluwa, had earlier said that Mimiko had concluded arrangements to dump the LP for the PDP.
He said, “Arrangements have been concluded with Governor Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo State to defect from the LP to the PDP.
“The PDP is gaining and we are attracting heavyweight politicians to the party. Former Kano State Governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Shekarau, has defected to the PDP and you can see that we are winning and that is just the beginning.”
Also, the PDP Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Abdullahi Jalo, has described the planned defection of the governor as “one of the fruits of the reconciliatory efforts embarked upon by the party chairman, Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu.”
Jalo said, “It is cheery news because we are expecting not only Governor Mimiko, but all other genuinely progressive governors to join us in the task of nation-building.
“We will welcome themwith open arms, just as our doors will remain open to all Nigerians who are willing to join the winning party.”
When contacted Ondo State Commissioner for Information, Mr. Kayode Akinmade, said that the governor remained a member of LP.
“As of today, the governor is still a member of LP. He has not defected to PDP,” he said

Ebola: Woman Dies in Ekiti After 4 Hospitals Rejected Her

Ekiti State Government has debunked rumours of an outbreak of the deadly Ebola Virus Disease, EVD, in the state .This came as the government lamented the unfortunate death of a woman, who was said to have vomited and collapsed in premises of the State Ministry of Health and was rejected in four different private hospitals because of the text messages circulated by some unidentified people suspected to be in the Healthcare sector that tagged her ebola patient.

At a briefing, Commissioner for Health, Professor Olusola Fasubaa said....

On 20th August,2014, a 55-year-old health care worker at Ogotun- Ekiti, who was said not to have had any complaints of illness in the last two months and no current history of travel outside the state (according to her neighbours) got to the Data Bank of the Ministry of Health at about 1.pm and collapsed after coughing out blood and subsequently vomited and she was immediately tagged Ebola victim without an adequate history taken and people started running away.
“The woman subsequently died in the late evening. The unnecessary write-up through the social media by some doctors in the state is uncalled for, and counter-productive to the efforts of the state government in containing and curtailing the spread of the virus.”

He also said a similar case at the NYSC Orientation camp in Ise Ekiti where a young man who had been inadequately treated for malaria collapsed and was abandoned by everybody including the camp’s healthcare givers from 6am to 3pm when the state government intervened.

Prof Fasubaa appealed to doctors in the state to live up to their responsibilities and remember the Hippocratic oath they swore to. He stressed that not all patients that have fever or vomiting have Ebola.

Patrick Sawyer's Wife Expresses Her Sympathy For The Loss Of Dr. Adedavoh: Decontee

Dr. Adedavoh was the brave woman who risked her life to treat Sawyer who reportedly tried to escape.
In an e-mail to Leadership, she said “she shares the pains of the family”:
“I share the pains that the family members of the Nigerian doctor are going through. It is just a pity that Patrick had to cause this damage both in Liberia and Nigeria.”
“I want to reach out to them and express how deeply saddened and sorry I am for their loss and their pain. I do apologise if my words have cost anyone who is grieving more pain. I fall on my knees and ask God for his healing power for all of those who are still infected with Ebola. I pray for all of the families whose loved ones were taken away by this merciless killer Ebola, especially those affected by Patrick’s actions.
Ebola didn’t start with Patrick in Liberia, as we both know. Ebola was in Liberia from a traveller from Guinea since February of this year. The government knew about it and did nothing. Many Liberians, including me, called out to the government then to close the borders. They didn’t do so until one of their own, Patrick (Sawyer), died in July.
Many people died before Patrick and their lives were just as important. That is my frustration. Ebola didn’t have to go to Nigeria, Africa’s most populated country, had the Liberian government taken drastic actions sooner. I, too, have family members and friends in Nigeria, and now they are at risk because of Patrick’s actions.
In spite of my anger and disappointment with him, I don’t believe that he did this with evil intent (I could be wrong). I believe his actions were that of a desperate man. And sad for everyone involved, Nigeria was closer than the U.S. This is just my take on what he could have been thinking (of course, I could be wrong).
My regret is that I was so caught up in my own pain and frustration, that I neglected to see the pain of the innocent people both in Liberia and Nigeria who are affected by Patrick’s actions. For that, I am deeply sorry. The last thing I wanted to do was to cause them pain.
It is a pain I know. It is a pain I don’t want them to have.”
Decontee has three daughters with Patrick.
She also apologized for his actions, “Going to Nigeria was one of them. His act was one of a desperate man. Many Nigerians and Liberians are affected because of that act of desperation.”

Reasons Drinking Wine Is Good for You

Wine is the nectar of the gods. It is one of the oldest and the most precious alcohol drinks known to mankind. I think nothing can be better than enjoying a glass of wine after a tough day. This wonderful beverage will widen your blood vessels and help relax your body. Many people have a habit to consume wine every day. It fills their body with positive life energy and provides life contentment. My friends always say that a glass of wine every day can keep doctor away. I couldn’t believe, but now I realize that wine consumption has a great number of benefits for both physical and emotional well-being. Drinking wine in moderation can boost your immunity and help you lose weight. Moreover, it preserves your memory and makes you more cheerful. This article will change your attitude toward wine. You’ll get to know how wine can make your life better. Just remember, moderation is the key here.

1. It can improve your digestion

Most people believe that drinking wine is the best relaxing way to develop and maintain a healthy gut balance, because it has a big number of good gut bacteria. It may help your body digest food and prevent you from various diseases, since there’s a direct link between digestive and immune system. Moreover, many researchers concluded that red wine consumption is extremely effective in decreasing pathogenic bacteria in the gut. Wine is rich in B-vitamins, beneficial enzymes and omega three fatty acids. If you are still hesitating what beverage to choose during your meal, then try to drink a glass of red wine.

2. Wine is a source of youth

Many wise people believe that the fountain of youth is filled with red wine, because there’s an anti-aging compound that plays a great role in preventing cell-aging. People who drink wine have more chances to live a longer life than those who prefer to drink beer or other kinds of alcohol. Wine includes resveratrol that stimulates different positive processes and chemical reactions in your body. Numerous useful substances found in wines can rejuvenate your body by activating chemicals that protect against age-related diseases. There’s no need to look for new and sophisticated methods to look younger if you can consume wine with pleasure, but in moderation.

3. It’s high in antioxidants

According to the research, wine contains powerful antioxidants and essential vitamins. Red wines are more useful since they have the largest amount of antioxidants. If you don’t drink alcohol, you may receive a dose of these healthy substances by drinking a grape juice, which has similar antioxidant content. A glass of wine a day will help you relax your blood vessels and strengthen your cardiovascular health.

4. It heals your heart and improves overall health

Red wine is good for your heart since its healing qualities relax and stimulate your cardiovascular system. Moderation is a very important point if you decide to drink red wine daily. Be careful, because big amounts of alcohol can be harmful to your health. Moderate drinkers have a wonderful memory and productivity of their mental function. Furthermore, moderate consumption of wine prevents blood-sugar trouble and cuts the risk of colon cancer. Plus, it makes you emotionally balanced and happy.

5. It helps you enjoy the moments of appreciation

I think that wine is for savoring, not gulping. It can help you make a pause in your busy life and gather the circle of your best friends. It will break fears and help you socialize with people around you. Those who cannot drink wine should know an interesting thing. Scientists have claimed that thinking about a glass of wine can help you relax. It means that your thoughts can change your behaviors according to what you expect. The power of positive thinking can make miracles.

6. Wine is a wonderful alcoholic drink

Every time I drink wine, I feel the connection to the land and history of wine. I respect history and people who had dedicated their lives to the production of this wonder of nature. I have always dreamt to visit a wine country and learn something about the ancient process of wine production. Nothing can be better than time spent with your friends somewhere in the middle of the wine country. It’s a great pleasure to enjoy the wine on the land where it’s grown and feel the warmth of the sun that throws light on the grapes.

7. It’s a great fun

When I drink wine I always feel fine. Wine has always been a symbol of joy and creativity. It releases endorphins which are the hormones of happiness. But you should be careful while drinking and having fun, if you don’t want to suffer from a hangover next day. My favorite author Ernest Hemingway once noticed a wonderful thing about wine, “Wine is one of the most civilized things in the world and the most natural things of the world that has been brought to the greatest perfection, and it offers a greater range for enjoyment and appreciation than, possibly any other purely sensory thing.”
Wine is a majestic thing that can fill your life with joy, positivity, new acquaintances and creativity. Furthermore, it can improve both your physical and mental health. You should consume wine in moderation, if you don’t want to suffer from alcohol addiction, anxiety and depression. Do you consume wine on a regular basis? What other interesting benefits of wine do you know?

Important Lessons Every Father Should Teach His Daughter

Jim Valvano once said, “My father gave me the greatest gift anyone could give another person, he believed in me.” Every father plays a unique role in his daughter’s life. Like a superman in her eyes, the father has the responsibility to show her what a “real man” is and to give her confidence to face the world with happiness and strength. Moreover, a father is the first man in his daughter’s life. Here are the principles every father should teach his daughter to prove her dad is the best man in the world.

1. She is very special

Every person is special by the nature. The main point is to realize this fact. The father has to help his daughter find her identity in life and understand that she is special and unique in all meanings. A good father should love and accept his daughter the way she is. Surely, it will make her feel happy and all-rounded person. Moreover, your pure parental love teaches your kids love themselves, others and help them gain correct values and vision of the world.

2. She deserves the best in this life

I think every father knows that his little princess deserves the best in this world. He always tries to increase his daughter’s self-esteem and persuade her to believe that she deserves respect, love and appreciation. Furthermore, daughters should learn to enjoy and value the present moment that is full of wondrous things. If you want your daughter to be happy, then teach her to stop obsessing about what people think of her and fully realize that she can open up to all the good she deserves in this life.

3. She is strong enough

One of the most important things fathers should teach their daughters is that they are strong enough to live and overcome difficulties. She should be confident in her abilities and not to be afraid of failure. Teach her that sometimes she will face ups and downs, but she can’t let the fear stop her from trying something. Nowadays the society is full of confident and all-sufficient ladies. There are no more male-oriented principles. Fathers are the people of high authority for their daughters. That’s why they should teach daughters to be physically and mentally strong.

4. She should speak her mind freely

I understand that it is very difficult to overcome the fear and get the freedom to say what you really feel and think. When I was a child I often found myself afraid to ask questions. Later I tried to avoid hurting, disappointing and angering others by my frank feelings and thoughts. Many girls are tender and shy creatures, therefore fathers should help their daughters get rid of hesitation. Teach your daughter speak her mind around the family and let her opinion be heard.

5. She should be self-disciplined

Self-discipline is one of the most important and useful skills everyone should possess. It’s up to you to help your daughter become a self-disciplined personality. Self-discipline means self-control, which is a sign of inner strength and having more in control of your life. The father’s sternness will be enough to teach the daughter to be disciplined. Try not to be a “nice parent” or too harsh with your daughter.
6. She should stand her ground

A father is a person number one who knows how to protect the family in a proper way. I think every person should possess the skill to stand their ground. That’s why fathers have to teach their daughters to defend themselves or the people they love and respect. Life is so unpredictable and full of conflict situations. Women often find it more ladylike to hold their tongue, but sometimes you are to stand your ground by all means.

7. Self-sufficiency

This lesson is going to be one of the most important. Your daughter should realize that she doesn’t depend on a man. The father usually helps, but he shouldn’t act like an ATM machine every time she has problems. You have got to teach your daughter to become financially independent and self-reliant. She doesn’t need a man’s money for everything. Moreover, your daughter should have simple skills to save money and keep up with bills.

8. Self-confidence

Self-confidence is the passport of your daughter to lifetime health and social happiness. It is the foundation of her well-being and the key to success in the future. Every father should tell his daughter that she is the most beautiful and smart lady in the world. It will boost her confidence and make her successful in all life spheres. Every girl wants to be loved and appreciated, especially by dearest and nearest people. Let your daughter become confident and you will surely be proud of her.

9. Real love is unconditional

Nicholas Sparks once said, “What it’s like to be a parent: It’s one of the hardest things you will ever do, but in exchange it teaches you the meaning of unconditional love.” I think every father knows what real unconditional love is, because he already loves his wife and mom, daughters and sisters. Now he has a responsibility to teach his daughter what real love is. It will form the vision of real unconditional feeling in her mind. This way, you will develop and enrich your daughter’s inner world and spirituality.

Your daughter is the best flower of your life. Every father should be strong enough to bring up a confident, self-sufficient and disciplined daughter. What other lessons do you find very important? Share your ideas!

Six Nigerians isolated in Vietnam, Germany.

Six Nigerians have been quarantined in Germany and Vietnam because of suspicion of carrying Ebola virus.
One Nigerian in Germany, two at Vietnam’s international airport on arrival and three students have confined to their abode for the next 21 days in the Asian country.
Two Nigerians on a Qatar Airways flight to Ho Chi Minh City’s Tan Son Nhat Airport last night were taken to a city hospital after being found to have flu-like symptoms that could be tied to the recent Ebola outbreak in West Africa.
Tran Dac Phu, chief of the Heath Ministry’s Preventive Medicine Department in Vietnam, said the two passengers departed on Monday from Nigeria on the QR964 flight. They took seats 25B and 26D.
The two Nigerians were then transported to the quarantined area of the Ho Chi Minh City Tropical Diseases Hospital to stay indoors under a 21-day fever watch.
The Preventive Health Department, the city’s Pasteur Institute, in collaboration with the World Health Organisation (WHO)’s Office and the US Diseases Control Centre in Vietnam, has sent blood samples taken from the Nigerians for further testing.
The Health Ministry also asked the passengers sitting near the two Nigerians on that flight to go to the nearest hospitals or call the number 0989 671 115 to get guidance on preventive measures.
No Ebola-infected case has been detected in Vietnam so far.
Similarly, Hanoi health authorities are watching three students from Nigeria for flu-like symptoms after they arrived in Vietnam between July 31 and August 8 to attend a college in the Vietnamese capital.
Health authorities said the students, who are asked to stay indoors under a 21-day fever watch, remained healthy, and underwent daily medical checkups. They were asked to inform health officers as soon as they have symptoms of fever, headache, vomiting, diarrhea and hemorrhage.
The Vietnam’s Ministry of Health is planning to buy 10,000 protective outfits for health officers facing high risks of Ebola-virus infection while on duty, said the chief of the Preventive Medicine Department.
German health authorities yesterday took to hospital and quarantined a 30-year-old Nigerian woman who showed symptoms consistent with the deadly disease.
Dozens of other visitors and staff at a Berlin employment office building were also stopped from leaving for several hours as emergency services sealed off part of the street.
The mass-circulation Bild daily said the woman fainted, adding later that she had recently been in contact with people infected with Ebola.
Several people who had been with the woman inside the building in the northeastern district of Prenzlauer Berg were later also taken to hospital for testing.
Berlin fire department spokesman Rolf Erbe said that because the patient came from “an area affected by a highly contagious disease, we took these precautions”.
He said the testing in the city’s Charite hospital would take some time.
“The patient was isolated inside the ambulance, the staff took the appropriate protective measures. An emergency medic, the public health officer, arrived and the necessary precautions were taken,” he added.
Minister of Health Prof. Onyebuchi Chukwu insisted yesterday that there are only three Ebola –positive cases in Nigeria, after the discharge of five people who came down with the virus after having primary contact with the late Liberian Patrick Sawyer. All the cases in Nigeria are from primary contact with Sawyer.
Chukwu told a one-day National Youth and Student Leaders Sensitisation Lecture on Ebola Prevention and Management organised in Abuja:
“Nigeria as at today (yesterday) discharged some of those who tested positive to the  Ebola virus disease.
“We have only three Nigerians who have Ebola virus and they are under treatment.”
The minister added that of the 21 secondary contacts with Sawyer, only six are still under observation.
“Ebola gave us the opportunities to re-build our public health properly, to police our borders, for our health workers to protect themselves properly and its test has also revealed more HIV patients as they come out openly to say they have HIV and not Ebola. Even though we have lost some patriots, their death will not be in vain,” the minister promised.
Cases in West Africa’s Ebola outbreak this year have risen to 2,240, including 1,229 deaths, the World Health Organisation said yesterday, reporting the toll in four countries, including Nigeria.
The WHO said it was working with the U.N.’s World Food Programme to ensure food delivery to one million people living in Ebola quarantine zones in Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone.
“Food has been delivered to hospitalised patients and people under quarantine who are not able to leave their homes to purchase food. Providing regular food supplies is a potent means of limiting unnecessary movement,” the WHO said in a statement.
The WFP is stepping up emergency food deliveries to the quarantined areas, which include severely affected cities, such as Gueckedou in Guinea, Kenema and Kailahun in Sierra Leone and Foya in Liberia.
While Nigeria has contained the virus, Liberia and Sierra Leone are struggling to halt the spread among their populations.

2 Soldiers Injured As APC and PDP Clash In Rivers State

Two soldiers were reportedly wounded and property worth millions of naira destroyed late Sunday night when supporters of All Progressives Congress (APC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) clashed in Etche Local Government Area of Rivers State.

The communities mostly affected were Egwie, Okomoko, Ulakwo 1 and Ulawkwo 2, and it was gathered that the communities had been deserted.
Police have arrested four persons suspected to be involved in the violence.
Daily Sun gathered that the soldiers, who sustained bullet wounds, were among the task force deployed in the council area to restore peace and order.
It was alleged that the violence was caused by a chieftain of one of the parties, who wanted to gain political dominance in the area.
According to sources, the supporters of the two parties freely used arms for hours before the intervention of soldiers.
A native, who spoke to Daily Sun on phone, said: “The incident took place at Ulakwo and later extended to other communities. A politician in the area orchestrated the violence. There are pending political issues in the area. The communities involved have not known peace. Since the incident, we have been running up and down because of the shootings.
“All the youths, women and men have deserted the communities and are at present taking refuge in the bush. The politicians are arming the youths with different weapons.
“As I speak now, our people are taking refuge in the bush because of fear of being killed.”
Meanwhile, the Caretaker Committee Chairman of Etche, Mr. Charles Anyanwu, has appealed to the parties involved in the crisis to sheathe their swords.
Anyanwu, who spoke to reporters on the incident, confirmed that two soldiers sustained bullet wounds during the crisis.
“I learnt that two military officers sustained bullet wounds. From the report I got, it was the youths who were involved in the shootings. This is uncalled for even when 2015 elections is yet to come,” he said.
When contacted, the state Assistant Police Public Relations Officer, Mrs. Grace Iringe-Koko, an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), told Daily Sun that the Divisional Police Officer in charge of the area said there was normalcy in the area.

  • OMG! Lady Gaga Wants To Get Married In Space To Taylor Kinney

Lady Gaga is willing to prove that she's out of this world by getting married in space.
The 28-year-old singer wants to have a commitment ceremony with Taylor Kinney, 33, outside of the Earth's atmosphere at the beginning of next year while onboard Sir Richard Branson's Virgin Galactic flight.
"Gaga and Taylor want to make a pledge for life, and think the space flight is too big an opportunity to pass up. It would be typical of her to have the least conventional wedding ever. Of course it would be a simulated-style marriage as there wouldn't be a priest or religious figure there. But they don't care about convention, it's more about making each other a life-long promise."
Meanwhile, the Applause hitmaker is set to perform during the trip into space on the special flight, which will cost $250,000 per seat, and she is looking forward to using the opportunity to spread a "message of love".
She said: "Performing in space is such an honour. I want to challenge myself to come up with something that will not only bring everyone together but will also have a message of love that blasts into the beyond."
Meanwhile, Gaga, who will reportedly get her ticket into space for free, will have to prepare a month prior to the event to make sure her body can handle the changes in the atmospheric pressure whilst singing.

7 Steps To Become A More Outgoing Person

A few years ago, I spent a lot of time on my own. Sometimes I appreciated it, but not having friends to hang out with on evenings and weekends was tough. I started to research what it would take to become a more outgoing person. These are the steps that helped me to get the social life I have today.

    1. Start Off Small

No matter how obvious it may sound, it was a huge thing for me to actually realize that outgoing people didn’t go straight from the womb to parties and nightclubs. They had years of practice in safer environments – speaking to their siblings – joking with their mates at kindergarten – attending school discos and so on. They did all that while I enjoyed spending my time on my own.

Once I realized how everyone has to go through this process, I understood that I could simulate the natural way of becoming outgoing – by starting off small and proceeding incrementally.

What’s a small step you can take today to do something slightly more outgoing than you used to do?

Start with people you know, or if you are starting fresh, find a small group of people that you share an interest with. A book club, sports team or hobby group is a great place to start. Next, you should try something new with this group such as participating in a bar crawl or arranging a barbecue and let people bring friends.

Push your comfort zone, but only in such a way that it feels thrilling – not appalling.

    2. Track Down The Source of Discomfort

Whenever you feel discomfort thinking about social situations, try to track down the source of that discomfort. Was it from a bad experience? Someone rejecting you?

The goal here is to root out the source and examine the reasons why it holds you back. Simply being aware of the source of bad feelings will help you separate†it from the current situation, which can give you more confidence to approach others.

    3. Know That Your Flaws Can be Your Benefits

A common misconception is that people will like you more the “better” you become. A bigger home, a faster car or a well paid job look like great investments when it comes to making friends.

The truth is there is no correlation between success and making real friends. People don’t like hanging out with those they feel subordinate to. Instead of trying to hide or kill your flaws, know that a weak paycheck, a bit of a belly or spending too many hours watching TV only makes you more human and likable.

When I realized this, I started to take myself less seriously. I stopped trying to get people to know about that new surround system I bought or that cool place I went to last vacation. Instead, I could tell stories about times I failed or my shortcomings. The result? People started to like me more.

Does this mean you should give up on self improvement? Definitely not. Just make sure to do it for yourself – not for others.

    4. Shift Your Internal Focus

When we’re in a social situation, we often start focusing on ourselves. What will they think of me? What am I supposed to say next? This causes both you and the person you’re talking to end up living in your own heads. There’s no connect.

In comparison, outgoing people are great at keeping their focus on the people they meet. Their brains aren’t interested in what others think of them, their brains are interested in getting to know the people they come across.

There’s an exercise you can do to readjust your focus. Whenever you pass people by when you’re out walking, ask yourself questions about them. “I wonder where she’s from?” “Does he have kids?” “I wonder what her favorite way is to spend her vacation?” This simple exercise will help you cultivate an interest in people you meet.

I discovered that as I started to try to get to know people I meet, questions and conversation subjects popped up naturally in my head – my conversations didn’t end up in awkward silence anymore.

    5. Use Positive Jargon

Ever meet someone who used negativity to initiate a conversation? “Isn’t it cold in here?” “Will the bus ever arrive?” While I think it’s important to talk about negative things when it’s needed, using negativity as a jargon is dangerous when it comes to making friends.

Most people already have to deal with many problems and negativity in their lives. When you’re connecting with them, make sure to do that by using a positive energy. People enjoy a break from their everyday lives. Outgoing people are great at giving people the energy they need.

    6. Sometimes When You Want to Say “No”, Say “Yes”

If you’re like me, there have probably been many times where you’ve declined party invitations just because you didn’t feel like going. In these moments, try pushing yourself. Say “Yes” when you feel like saying “No”.

A great method I used often when I really wasn’t in the mood for socializing was to say, “I’ve got some stuff to do tonight but I might swing by for just a moment”. It was a great relief to know that I could show up at a party and leave a few minutes later if I wanted to. Another problem with declining parties is that you will receive fewer invites as people learn that you don’t show up. Joining in, even if just for a few minutes, will help you become a more outgoing person.

    7. Find Those Who Share Your Similarities

90% of friendships are activity based - meaning that we meet most of our friends through social activities. This teaches us that social activities is the key to making friends.

A couple of years ago I was new in town and tried to make new friends. It just didn’t work out, and now in retrospect I realize how I must have come off as weird. I told people I barely knew that we should hang out or said that we should grab a coffee.

Instead, when I asked if they wanted to join a social activity, everything changed. “It was great talking about photography with you. Are you up for taking a walk and some photos one day? It would be nice to see that tilt shift lens you were talking about as well”. Suddenly, following up with people I met became natural.

This was an important factor in building my social circle. Whenever you want to hang out with someone, do so through a social activity related to a mutual interest.

These seven tips can help you develop the mindset and behaviors necessary to become more outgoing. By taking small steps this will be a fun journey.

Be prepared to make mistakes and mess things up. But remember, the people worth being around will like you for who you are. And in the end, those are the people you’ll want to be around too.

Want to Live a Longer, Happier Life? Just Think Like an Aussie

When describing happiness, the survey of over 1,000 Brits shows over half (55%) of Brits with AWoT say they ‘feel they could live forever’ compared with just 7% of those without.
Aussie Way of Thinking…struth, what’s that?
The ‘Aussie Way of Thinking’ is a positive attitude or frame of mind that Aussies embody that leads to a unique perspective on the world - the perspective that no matter what is thrown at them, ‘no worries mate’ is the answer.
According to Professor Carl Bridge of the Menzies Centre for Australian Studies, Kings College London, this positive, ‘can do’ approach to life is deeply embedded in the DNA of the Australian psyche; “The first settlers found a vast, dry, inhospitable continent of impenetrable bush and endless desert. Yet, the best of them had the wit not only to survive there, but to thrive. It was those with a positive attitude who struck out to create something new.” He continues; “A sunny positivity and the wonderfully laid-back sense of irony that usually accompanies it are the essential hallmarks of an Australian.”
    That’s Gold!
Those with AWoT live longer than those who don’t. Nearly two thirds (60%) confirmed their family members lived beyond the national life expectancy average, compared to 26% without AWoT. Of these, just under a quarter (24%) went as far as to put it down specifically to the Aussie way of thinking.
    Good onya mate
AWoT Brits have more mates and are socially savvy – with 68% having both Twitter and Facebook accounts compared to 33% of those who don’t. Of these, just over a fifth (22%) have over 400 Facebook friends, compared to one in 10 (11%) without AWoT.
A further 18% (just under a fifth) with AWoT said they were rich in family and friends, compared to one in 10 (11%) of those without.
That Sheila of yours is a beaut!
In terms of relationships, 48% of Brits with AWoT are happily married compared to 16% of those without.
    Life is Sweet!
The research also revealed that AWoT Brits are more likely to deal with life's little obstacles in a positive and ingenious way!
Stung by a jellyfish? No worries mate! 81% of people with AWoT said they’d play the hero and help a mate out by answering the call of nature to sanitise and ease the pain (what a true mate?!) compared to 19% without AWoT.
Love garlic? Love your other half? When it came to getting cosy with a partner who’d just eaten a very garlicky pizza, 82% of AWoT Brits said they’d eat some raw garlic as well and get involved - whereas less than half (40%) without AWoT said they’d do anything but…rubbish!
Emma Sherwood-Smith, Marketing Manager from Foster's commented "Australians are known for their sunny outlook and ability not to let anything get them down. This research shows that embracing an Aussie Way of thinking really can have a positive effect and change your perspective on life! It’s great to see that many parts of Britain are already thinking Aussie – that’s what we call a ‘good call’!”

Father Shoots Son Over Amaechi's Visit

Governor Amaechi as part of his three-day visit to the local government area was scheduled to visit Rumueprikom which is said to be the community of Nyesom Wike, the Minister of State for Education, who is a member of the opposition, People’s Democartic Party (PDP).
According to Daily Trust report, on that day, hundreds of youths who heard of the planned visit gathered at the popular Wimpi junction and barricaded all entrances to the traditional ruler’s residence where the governor was expected to pay homage.

The tension continued to build and the youths were approaching the palace of the monarch, a strong supporter of Gov. Amaechi. The monarch was said to have fired gunshots to scare the approaching youths away and his own son, Prince Clement Owabie was accidentally hit by the shots.

“The boy sustained serious injuries and was immediately rushed to an undisclosed hospital,” a witness said.
This resulted in a violent political clash between members of All Progressives Congress, APC, and loyalists of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, leading to injuries and destruction of some properties in the area.

Clement is said be a loyalist of PDP and Wike, while his father is labeled an APC supporter.
According to the Rivers Police Command at least 10 persons were arrested in connection to the incident while monarch has been invited by the police for interrogation.

Gov. Amaechi and Wike have been at loggerheads. About a week ago, Wike had disclosed that six serving commissioners under the the governor’s administration will resign their positions in December 2014 and defect to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Earlier, Wike had threatened to expose the alleged corruption of Amaechi, who he described as a corrupt politician.

Atlast Liberia Gets Ebola Drug; Ponders Who Should Get It

Liberia faced an excruciating choice Thursday: deciding which handful of Ebola patients will receive an experimental drug that could prove either life-saving or life-threatening. ZMapp, the untested Ebola drug, arrived in the West African country late Wednesday. Assistant Health Minister Tolbert Nyenswah said three or four people would begin getting it Thursday. The government had previously said two doctors would receive the treatment, but it was unclear who else would.

These are the last known doses of ZMapp left in the world. The San Diego-based company that developed it has said it will take months to build up even a modest supply.

An Ebola outbreak that began in Guinea and spread to Liberia, Sierra Leone and Nigeria has killed more than 1,060 of the 1,970 people sickened since it was detected in March, according to the World Health Organization. It has overwhelmed the already strained health systems in West Africa and sparked an international debate over the ethics of giving drugs that have not yet been tested for safety or efficacy to the sick.

The charity group Doctors Without Borders, which is running many of the Ebola treatment centers and whose staff have tussled with whether to provide ZMapp, said such choices present "an impossible dilemma."

Now Liberian officials are facing those questions.

"The criteria of selection is difficult, but it is going to be done," said Dr. Moses Massaquoi, who helped Liberia obtain the drug from Mapp Biopharmaceutical. "We are going to look at how critical people are. We are definitely going to be focusing on medical staff."

"The criteria of selection is difficult, but it is going to be done," said Dr. Moses Massaquoi, who helped Liberia obtain the drug from Mapp Biopharmaceutical. "We are going to look at how critical people are. We are definitely going to be focusing on medical staff."
Massaquoi said people who were past the "critical phase" and looked likely to survive would not be treated with it.
In this outbreak, over 50 percent of those getting Ebola have died, according to the U.N. health agency.
So far, ZMapp has been given to three people: two Americans and a Spaniard priest. The Americans are improving — but it is unclear what role the drug has played. The Spaniard died earlier this week in Madrid.

Nigeria announced Thursday that one more person has been infected with Ebola, bringing the country's number of cases to 11. Health Minister Onyebuchi Chukwu said the latest patient is a doctor who helped treat the first Ebola case in the country, Liberian-American Patrick Sawyer who flew in last month with the virus and died July 25.

    Ebola in Enugu

A nurse who came in contact with the late Liberian-American Ebola patient Patrick Sawyer, fled from quarantine in Lagos. She returned to her home in Enugu. According to Sahara Reporters, she has since come in contact with 20 other people. The Minister of Information Labaran Maku revealed that the nurse and the 20 people are currently under surveillance in Enugu. The minister explained that the nurse traveled to Enugu from Lagos against instruction not to leave Lagos State, adding that 198 persons are currently under watch by the Ministry of Health to contain further spread of the disease. Labaran Maku explained that out of the 198 persons under surveillance , 177 of them are in Lagos while 21 are in Enugu. “All those who had primary contact have been quarantined. Secondary contacts have also been traced. So far the number of people that have been traced is 198. Out of this number, 177 are in Lagos and are being traced. Some are in quarantine, some are being monitored by health specialists.”

Ebola: Patrick Sawyer’s Wife Opens Up- Why my husband travelled to Nigeria

The widow of late Patrick Sawyer, the Liberian who brought Ebola into Nigeria, has defended her husband’s decision to travel to Africa’s most populous country, saying he did so in desperate search for a country with better healthcare system than his own country. In an article published earlier yesterday, TMZ Liberia Magazine quoted Decontee Sawyer, who is a radio host in New York, as explaining that Mr. Sawyer had no trust in the healthcare system in Liberia and had possibly headed to Nigeria with the hope of receiving better treatment for his ailment. Mrs. Sawyer shared her thoughts on her Facebook profile from which TMZ Liberia sourced it for publication. “I’ve read other reports in other papers (not the New York Times) about Patrick’s “recklessness.” I get where they’re coming from, and they certainly have the right to feel the way they do. However, as Patrick’s widow, I would like to shed some light on this from another perspective. One that only I, his wife, would know,” she wrote. “I knew Patrick better than anybody else (including himself). He had told me many times in the past how much he didn’t trust the Liberian healthcare system. He would tell me about how a person would get checked in for one thing, and get misdiagnosed and get the wrong treatment as a result. On top of that, Patrick was a clean freak, and told me how filthy a lot of the hospitals were. “He didn’t tell me this, but I know in my heart of hearts that Patrick was determined to get to Nigeria by all means because he felt that Nigeria would be a place of refuge. He has expressed to me many times in the past that he felt passionately about helping to be a part of strengthening Liberia’s healthcare system, but he knew it wasn’t there yet, and he wouldn’t want to take a chance with his life because a lot of people depended on him… Patrick had a passion for life, and he wouldn’t have wanted his to end. So, I bet anything that he was thinking, if I could only get to Nigeria, a way more developed country than Liberia, I would be able to get some help. How ironic.” Many Nigerians, and even Liberians, condemned Mr Sawyer for traveling to Nigeria despite knowing that he was carrying Ebola virus before embarking on the trip. Some Nigerians on social media have described him as a “biological terrorist” arguing that he came into the country deliberately to spread the disease. On Monday in Abuja, President Goodluck Jonathan described Mr Sawyer’s decision to travel to Nigeria as pure “madness” and “craziness.” “Sawyer that brought this Ebola to Nigeria; his sister died of Ebola. And he started acting somehow, his country asked him not to leave the country, let them observe him, but the crazy man decided to leave and found his way here,” President Jonathan said. In her post, Mrs. Sawyer wrote that the fact that her husband avoided contact with others at the James Sprigg Payne’s Airport in Monrovia as revealed by airport CCTV footage proved he didn’t set out to infect others with the disease and perhaps his actions were that of a dying man in desperate search for help. “It has been reported that Patrick avoided physical contact with everyone he came across during his trip from Liberia to Nigeria. When he got to Nigeria, he turned himself in letting them know that he had just flown in from Liberia. “Patrick went to Nigeria for help so that he can get properly diagnosed, and not misdiagnosed in Liberia. And if it came back that he did have Ebola, he trusted the Nigerian healthcare system a lot more than he trusted the Liberian’s. His action, as off as it was, was a desperate plea for help. Patrick didn’t want to die, and he thought his life would be saved in Nigeria.” Mrs. Sawyer then took a swipe at the Liberian President, Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf, who said Mr Sawyer was indiscipline and disrespectful for failing to heed medical advise not to travel. Mrs Sawyer said if President Johnson-Sirleaf had fixed the healthcare system in Liberia, her husband would not have left in search of treatment elsewhere. “I write today, not simply because of Patrick, but because of the broken healthcare system in the Liberia, and the government’s inability under President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf (and other past Presidents) to fix it. Good doctors, nurses, and other healthcare providers aren’t given the support they need to save lives. “President Sirleaf went on CNN News throwing stones at Patrick, a man who can no longer defend himself, a man who worked tirelessly for Liberia. She should be ashamed of herself. I use to admire this woman, and was excited and proud of her accomplishment as the first woman President in the entire continent of Africa. She will always own that. We will always own that. It can’t be taken away from her. It’s something to be proud of. But this woman has failed her country,” she wrote. Nigeria was free of Ebola until July 20 when Mr. Sawyer arrived. He became terribly ill on his flight and was rushed to the First Consultant Hospital Obalende, Lagos, where he died on July 24. Nigeria’s Health Minister, Onyebuchi Chukwu, said on Monday that although the Liberian government has apologized for the incidence, it was pertinent to note that Nigeria was free of Ebola Virus until its importation by the Liberian-American. Mr. Sawyer’s action, he said, has placed unnecessary stress on Nigeria’s health system. Since Mr. Sawyer’s death in a Lagos hospital, two other persons who had contact with him have died of the virus. At least eight others have also tested positive to the infection and have been quarantined at a Lagos hospital. President Goodluck Jonathan has since declared a national emergency on the disease while the federal health ministry in conjunction with health ministries in the 36 states are working to prevent the spread of the virus, which has killed over 1,000 people in Guinea, Liberia, and Sierra Leone.
